Loikka tuo valkokankaalle iranilaisen koreografin ja ohjaajan Afshin Ghaffarianin elämään perustuvan huikean tositarinan. Iranin 2009 presidentinvaalien alle sijoittuvassa elokuvassa Ghaffarian riskeeraa henkensä järjestämällä salaisen tanssiesityksen keskelle autiomaata. Itseoppineen Ghaffarianin johtama ryhmä opettelee tanssia sensuurin 
alla olevista Michael Jacksonin, Gene Kellyn ja Rudolf Nureyevin videoista. Visuaalisesti henkeäsalpaava elokuva on väkevä puheenvuoro taiteen voimasta.

Seen for the first time on the big screen, Desert Dancer tells the thrilling true life story of Iranian choreographer and director Afshin Ghaffarian. Set in 2009 during the country's controversial presidential election, the film follows how Ghaffarian risks his own life in organising a secret dance show in the desert despite the nation’s ban on dancing. The self 
taught group learns the dancing from videos of Michael Jackson, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev even though the online videos are banned. The visually spectacular film gives a strong statement on the power of art and self expression.
