Tanssielokuvan uusille katsojille suunnattu monipuolinen näytös avaa portin kiehtovaan, tunteita herättävään maailmaan iättömin universaalein teemoin.
Näytöksen kolme kotimaista elokuvaa eroavat tunnelmiltaan toisistaan. Visuaalisesti näyttävä, myyttinen Fallen on kasvutarina, jossa langenneesta enkelistä kuoriutuu vahva Lohikäärmekuningatar. Dokumentaristinen NYD piirtää henkilökuvan tanssija Julie Fotheringhamista unen ja todellisuuden välimaastossa. Tanssin grand-old komedienne Johanna Keinänen tähdittää episodeista muodostuvaa kokonaisuutta Body Language Zone. Elokuvissa tuodaan esiin muun muassa kehonkielen käytön ja sen jätehuollon haasteita. Tanssielokuvan rikkaus näkyy myös esteettisin, kestollisin ja kerronnallisin valinnoin. Loikan barcelonalainen festivaalikumppani Choreoscope tuo näytökseen kaksi vuoden 2015 festivaalilla palkittua elokuvaa. Eroavan nuorenparin romanttinen kuvaus Move Away lainaa estetiikkansa mainosmaailmasta, kun taas Alkaline yhdistää tanssia ja animaatiota. Tanssin ilmaisuvoima on yhdistävänä tekijänä liikkeeseen luottavissa elokuvissa. Echossa mennyt, nykyinen ja tuleva kaikuvat iättömässä spiraaliliikkeessä ottaen katsojan mukaansa kameraliikkeellä. Synceretic Noicessa rytmi nousee keskiöön, kun tanssi ja äänisuunnittelu yhdistyvät toisiinsa saumattomasti. Liike, tanssi ja koreografia saavat pääosan teoksessa Inheritor Recordings. Targeted at those who are new to dance film, this screening is made up of a diverse group of films that, through their ageless and universal themes, open a gateway to a fascinating, emotion-evoking world.
The three Finnish films in the screening all have different and distinct moods. The visually striking, mythical Fallen is a story of personal growth – of a fallen angel who evolves into a strong Dragon Queen. The documentary film NYD paints a portrait of dancer Julie Fotheringham, blurring the line between dream and reality. Body Language Zone is a four-episode film starring the “grand-old comedienne” of dance, Johanna Keinänen. The episodes deal with body language and its policies on waste management, among others. The films demonstrate the richness of dance film, not least through their diversity when it comes to aesthetics, duration or narration. Loikka's partner festival Choreoscope, the International Dance Film Festival of Barcelona, brings us two award-winning films from its 2015 programme. A romantic portrayal of a young couple's breakup, Move Away borrows aesthetics from the world of advertising, whereas Alkaline mixes dance with animation. One common element in films that rest largely on movement is their use of the expressive power of dance. Echoes of past, present and future reverberate in an ageless spiral motion in Echo, which uses a tracking shot to give the viewer a sense of the movement. Rhythm takes centre stage in Syncretic Noise, with dance and sound design coming together to form a seamless whole, while Inheritor Recordings is all about movement, dance and choreography.
